Hop Tropicalization: Chemical Compositions of Varieties Grown under Organic and Conventional Systems in Subtropical Conditions

The interest in the production of hops Brazil, motivated by third position world ranking beer producers and growth craft brewery business, justifies intensification studies into its adaptation to local growing conditions. Due high internal demand, aim this study was evaluate phytochemical profiles hop varieties grown subtropical conditions under different cropping systems. Studies that promote expansion cultivation areas distinct climate ensure quality are very important. A randomized block design adopted with a 2 × 5 subdivided plot. main factor system (organic conventional), secondary variety (Columbus, Chinook, Nugget, Cascade Hallertau Mittelfrüeh), four blocks plants per parameters monitored work were contents alpha beta acids, xanthohumol inflorescences hops, as well relative composition their essential oils. variations chemical oils showed differences between some varieties, compositions levels resulting from two systems show management cultural practices can influence aromatic characteristics hops; total, 23 compounds found. terpene fraction represented 79.67% oil 93.63% Cascade, myrcene being compound. bitter acids did not differ statistically function treatments.
